Meelup Ridge

Built with minimal impact on the native bushland, this home draws inspiration from mid-century architecture, embracing a minimalist approach throughout. The sloping property offered a unique opportunity to elevate the home, seamlessly blending it into the natural contours of the landscape. The thoughtful placement of the home and its distinctive layout preserved beautiful native trees, optimizing sun orientation and views from every room.

A 1.5-meter-wide eave overhang, extending from the concrete slab, strikes the perfect balance between providing shade in summer and capturing the warmth of the winter sun. The property’s two wings are designed with distinct purposes: the main wing offers a spacious area for parents to host family dinners and enjoy cozy moments around the fire, while the minor wing includes a main bedroom and two ‘pods’ for a camping-like experience. This setup provides an ideal space for younger families and teens to hang out, with a shared outdoor area bringing everyone together.
