Meet the Team

Daniel Momsen

Daniel Momsen as director of South West Building Company brings over 15 years building experience locally, interstate and from abroad.

Australian born and with a rich Danish heritage, Daniel’s approach to building and construction is strongly influenced by the modern nordic design and innovation.

Daniel is a qualified carpenter and building inspector with plenty of hands-on experience including supervisory roles across large commercial projects and high end residential construction. Exposure to these various types of construction projects, building inspections and building maintenance has given Daniel an eye for detail, quality and a well-rounded understanding of Australian building standards.

Daniel moved to the South West in 2014 with his wife Sharlee and their three kids. They instantly felt at home with this amazing part of the world and have settled down based in Dunsborough. A keen surfer, Daniel loves to get into the water and wholeheartedly embraces the goodness of local wines, brews and food!

Sharlee Momsen

A busy Mum with three kids, Sharlee runs the accounts and the admin work at South West Building Company.

Hannah Martin

Hannah Martin was born and raised in Canada with a background and passion for design and construction.

She’s worked in New York City and Perth for Engineering Firms prior to commencing as a Project Manager.

As a project manager, Hannah will be your main point of contact throughout the entire building journey.

She looks after estimating, documentation, permits/applications and procurement. She will be happy to help assist you throughout your build.

In early 2020, Hannah and her husband Derek decided to build and settle in the southwest. Their love for the outdoors brought them to the mountain bike trails in Margs, the Cape to Cape and some of the best beaches in the world.

Ben van der Velde

Ben is a qualified carpenter and site manager with over 15 years’ experience in bespoke, residential construction.

Ben grew up in Tasmania where his parents ran a successful building company specializing in timber frame building. Growing up around the family business taught Ben a strong work ethic, attention to detail and the value of customer service and satisfaction.

Ben also has a passion for low energy, solar passive designed homes, ideal for the dynamic South West climate!

Ben is married to his English wife Emma and after living together in Canada, Perth and the UK, decided to raise their two energetic boys in the beautiful town of Busselton.

Ben enjoys being active and makes the most of the South West lifestyle including surfing, golf, fishing and sampling what the local breweries have to offer!

Liana Naughton

Liana has joined SWBS as a Design Manager and brings with her over 17 years’ experience as a qualified architect in both commercial and high-end residential projects.

Her role as a Design Manager is to provide support to the whole team in areas such as design development, estimating, procurement and during construction.

She has worked closely with many of our clients to create stunning Architectural homes as part of our design and build collaboration with Flow Architecture. Liana is extremely talented in her ability to create something amazing and unique by listening to clients and ensuring their ideas and dreams can come to life.

Liana lives in the South West with her husband and two children and is active in the community. In her free time, she loves exploring with her family and all things Architecture!
